Adjusting Your Sails

I was fortunate enough this morning to catch a clip of Matt Lauers interview with Elizabeth Edwards.  He read a quote from the final chapter of her book Resilience.  The passage brought tears to my eyes.  Her words were poignant and beautiful.
I have said before that I do not know what the most important lesson that I will teach my children, Cate, Emma Claire and Jack.   I do know that when they are older and telling their own children about their grandmother, they will be able to say that she stood in the storm and when the wind did not blow her away, and it surely has not, she adjusted her sails.
I can truly think of no better way to be remembered.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Edwards family today.

  1. Beautiful, as was she. She should be an inspiration to us all as to how to handle life's hard knocks with grace and dignity.

Thanks for reminding us about her example.
