The devastation of September 11th, 2001 knew no racial, ethnic or religious boundaries. It had no allegiance to country or creed. It was all encompassing, indiscriminate and horrific.
Thousands of people lost their lives that day.
The devastation of September 11th, 2001 came upon our Nation at the hands of a small group of radical men who were inspired to action by the teaching and prophecy of Osama bin Laden.
This one man brought untold sadness and loss to the world on September 11th, 2001.
And so, although he is indeed someones son, someones husband, someones father, brother, confidante as Clearness very eloquently posted, to me he is better off dead.
I will not "celebrate" this death but I will respect those who do.
I have to say, I was really surprised that THIS was the debate raging the day we found out. That lines were drawn over whether or not we should 'celebrate' the death. Some people celebrated in the streets when they found out, while others pointed judgmental fingers in their direction as they did.
ReplyDeleteOdd that even in death, this man has the power to tear apart a nation. I appreciate your views on it. I think we're all entitled to our opinions, but you can't deny that this world is better off without him in it, regardless of how it got to be that way.

ReplyDeleteI heard a comment yesterday that really summed up exactly how I feel.
"I am relieved that he is no longer alive to use his powers to destroy innocent lives, however, I am saddened at what could have been. That a man so powerful, so charismatic, so inspiring would choose to use his gifts and talents for evil.
That is what is sad to me...what could have been.
